Nonessential businesses in the state are set to reopen Monday.
Local retail stores have been shutdown for weeks due to the pandamic, which business owners say has been financially devastating.
Laura Kirkpatrick, the executive director of the nonprofit Red Bank RiverCenter, says the reopening is a step in the right direction to help local businesses recover.
"This is great news for the businesses, they are happy to be reopening on a smaller scale and interact with their customers again," she says.
Beginning Monday, customers will be able to call ahead or place an order online, and then pick up their merchandise from retailers in person across New Jersey. Customers will not be allowed inside the businesses and employees inside must social distance.
Employees will bring preordered merchandise outside to the customer while following CDC guidelines including wearing masks and using hand sanitizers.

"We will have signs along the major streets here in Red Bank where people can pull into spots for 5 or 10 minutes. Make the call to the retailer and get their stuff delivered to their car," says Kirkpatrick.
She adds that the retail curbside service will be similar to the restaurant pickup, which has been in effect for weeks now.
All retailers in Red Bank will take part in a webinar Monday to review CDC guidelines and safety procedures. Stores can begin curbside pickup Monday at 6 a.m.
