Is it time for New Jersey to stop changing the clocks for Daylight Saving Time? It’s what one Democratic state senator wants to do.
State Sen. Shirley Turner first introduced a bill in 2018 to get rid of the changing of the clocks. She says she wants to join the 20 other states that have passed similar legislation.
Turner says that in order for it to become a reality, Congress would have to sign off on it.
"I feel a lot more comfortable with a new administration now in place because they seem to be thinking outside the box, because this whole notion of moving back and forth twice a year…is archaic and it's also so disruptive - not just in terms of your sleep cycle but also in terms of your mental health as well as safety,” Turner says.
Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday at 2 a.m. Clocks will move forward one hour.
