As many residents hope for warmer weather, prognosticating groundhogs across New Jersey failed to reach an agreement on what comes next.

At Turtle Back Zoo in Essex County, Essex Edwina predicted six more weeks of winter.

Edwina made her forecast as families gathered at the zoo, where some visitors said they were not upset by the prediction.

Attendees reacted with applause after the announcement.

One child said they were excited for more winter. Another visitor said while shoveling snow is not appealing, building snowmen and sledding would still be fun.

Edwina also made a second prediction during the appearance.

The Turtle Back Zoo groundhog picked the Seattle Seahawks to win the Super Bowl.

Meanwhile in Sussex County, another groundhog saw the season differently. Stonewall Jackson at Space Farms predicted an early spring.

Edwina’s prediction requires her to be scared by her shadow, while others say only time will tell which groundhog got it right.
