Acting Gov. Tahesha L. Way has declared a state of emergency for the entire state ahead of a major winter storm.
The storm is expected to bring up to 10 inches of snow to the northern parts of the state.
In Morris County, officials say crews will be lining up plows and salting roads over the next few hours.
PSE&G is reminding residents to stay alert as freezing rain and snow move into the region. Officials say outage tools will help customers stay connected and advise staying at least 30 feet away from downed lines. Residents are urged to prepare emergency kits with items like a battery-powered radio, alarm clock, flashlights and extra batteries.
Even though the storm will arrive Friday late afternoon, it has already caused dozens of flight delays and more than 100 cancellations at Newark Liberty Airport. Officials advise checking with your airline before leaving for the airport.
Drivers returning from holiday trips should also plan ahead. AAA says the worst traffic will be on Friday as many head home. Leaving in the morning is the best strategy over the next couple of days.
NJDOT issues commercial vehicle travel restrictions on multiple interstate highways beginning Friday, Dec. 26, at 3 p.m.
