The police training company Street Cop Training filed bankruptcy this morning after a controversial police training seminar in Atlantic City a few years ago.
Street Cop Training acquired over $400,000 in debts following reports and videos that its training seminars contained racist and offensive content.
The six-day conference in 2021 trained more than a thousand police officers, including many from New Jersey.
Video recordings released by the state comptroller showed more than 100 offensive comments made by speakers at the event, which some said "glorified violence."
A state investigation found speakers encouraged police to violate constitutional rights.
After reportedly making millions of dollars in previous years, the East Windsor-based company only made about $35,000 in January, according to bankruptcy documents.
Several New Jersey towns announced officers involved in Street Cop Training's program will be retrained.
