A new film studio has been approved for downtown West Orange and is coming near the historic Thomas Edison National Historical Park, the Downtown West Orange Alliance announced Tuesday.
The cutting-edge facility will be built behind the Edison Lofts on Main Street thanks to the town's council approval for it.
The studio will sit on 12.2 acres and boast three to six production stages ranging from 20,000 to 30,000 square feet each, according to the nonprofit organization.
Each production stage will be equipped with on-site production services, encompassing equipment, props, set building, cleaning services, security and more. The facility will also include office and support spaces along with parking facilities.
Project leaders say they expect 300 to 600 full-time jobs will be created.
