State officials are marking the one year since it gave out its first vaccinations with a campaign to get more booster shots to people this holiday season.  
The former Lord & Taylor store at the Bridgewater Commons Mall is a new mega vaccination site. 
Gov. Phil Murphy marked the one year since the first vaccination was administered where that first shot was given – at the University Hospital in Newark.

Hospitalizations in the state rose for the 13th straight day, nearing 1,700.
The omicron variant represents about 3% of COVID-19 cases in the U.S., and experts expect the number to rise quickly.  
In New York and New Jersey, the CDC says omicron is already at 13% of sequenced cases.  
The U.S. COVID-19 death toll is now topping 800,000.
