An art exhibit in New Jersey features an ordinary item that has been turned into something extraordinary.
"The Cardboard Show" is on view at the Monmouth Museum in Lincroft. Around 20 sculptures - some large in scale and all made of cardboard - are displayed in the museum's Nilson Gallery.
The works were created by three Asbury Park area artists: Jason Stumpf, Bradley Hoffer and Porkchop, who is best known locally for his murals and installations.
"It's quick and it's easy and it's cheap, and you can find it just about anywhere," Porkchop says of working with cardboard.
The three artists collaborated in a space at Parlor Gallery in Asbury Park to build the sculptures, which include a dining table and chairs mounted to a gallery wall, a seahorse, a massive snail, robots and other quirky pieces.
"I'm so happy to be back in here," says Hoffer on returning to visit the exhibit with his fellow artists. "The energy we put into it when we were doing it came back when I was back in this room."
The exhibit will be on view through Sept. 3.
