Nearly 50 TGI Fridays locations have abruptly closed within the past week, including some in New Jersey. This comes as multiple restaurant chains have announced the closure of dozens of stores.
Customers pulling up to grab a bite at their local Fridays restaurant arrived to find they were closed. Fridays locations in New Jersey, including Piscataway and North Brunswick, are reportedly among 50 across the nation that are no longer in service. In January, the chain closed 36 locations after making an announcement about underperformance. They said employees would be transferred to other locations.
Customers say they'll miss the experience and the restaurant chain that became a community staple in some areas. This comes as multiple chains are closing stores or announcing a shutdown of dozens across the nation.
This year, Red Lobster also announced the closure of more than 50 locations across the country and just last week, Dennys said it expects to close 150 of its lowest-performing restaurants in 2025. For now, customers will just have to go to the next closest location and hope it stays put.
