Brooklyn Nets fans had mixed reactions to the NBA’s choice to not hold any games on Election Day.

The NBA said Tuesday the decision was made with a focus on encouraging fans to make a plan to vote during the midterm elections.

“I think it was the right move. Some people find basketball more important than political, important things,” says Dak Ham, a Brooklyn Nets fan.

However, fan Asam Sharafaldin thinks the change is unnecessary.

“I think you have more than enough time to cast your vote within the daytime,” he says.

In 2020, the NBA and its players reached an agreement that included voting registration drives, using locations like Barclays Center as registration or voting centers.

Two years later, the NBA is once again doing what it can to encourage its fans to get out and vote.
