Nearly two dozen people from across the world were sworn in as citizens of the United States at Liberty State Park Monday.
Sen. Cory Booker delivered remarks welcoming 21 new American citizens at a naturalization ceremony in Jersey City hosted by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service.
The 21 people came from all over the world. including Colombia, Mexico and India. 
Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop welcomed the new citizens, stating that he himself is the son of immigrants.
Monday's ceremony was the first known ceremony in Jersey City to fall on the Fourth of July.
