National Night Out events took place across New Jersey on Tuesday.

The events are all about community-building between police departments and the neighborhoods that they serve.

Last year’s events were postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

National Night Out began in 1984 with neighbors turning on porch lights and sitting out in front of their homes. Now, it's a nationwide event.
