Newark Mayor Ras Baraka is getting a helping hand despite criticism over his handling of the water crisis in his city.
Lead by Rev. Al Sharpton, members from the National Action Network were on hand to distribute bottled water to residents affected by the elevated lead levels in the city's water.
"We wanted to reach out to the faith community to help the people drink safely as the city goes through its strategy to recover and redeem with what has happened," Sharpton said.
Sharpton also expressed his support for Baraka despite criticism of his handling of the lead problems.
Gov. Phil Murphy will lead a news conference in Newark Monday to announce a long-term solution to address the Newark water crisis.
