Nassau Democrats claimed victory in a few races election night, but they're hoping the coming days will garner some more victories.
Nassau Democratic officials say with thousands of ballots that are still days away from being counted, they were not comfortable in claiming victory in some races just yet. But they did announce some perceived wins Tuesday night.
John Brooks won unopposed in the 8th District, and 7th District and 9th District incumbents Anna Kaplan and Todd Kaminsky were declared winners by the party.
Later on in the night, Rep. Kathleen Rice also announced that she was claiming victory in the 4th Congressional District.
The party's chair said due to the pandemic, many votes are still to be counted but that they still hope to make some announcements soon.
Kaplan called being a state senator the "honor of my lifetime."
