My Chemical Romance announces reunion show 6 years after breakup
Prepare to return to your early-2000s emo phase – My Chemical Romance has announced a reunion show six years after breaking up.
The band, originally based out of Newark, made the announcement Thursday via its Instagram page – first, in a series of cryptic photos posted to its Instagram story, and then with a proper photo announcing the concert.
The reunion show will be held Dec. 20 at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
My Chemical Romance is a punk rock/emo band that was active from 2001 until 2013. They were best known for their dark and creepy music videos with a goth vibe. The band produced four albums with “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge” and “The Black Parade” each going triple-platinum.
The band was known for playing local shows across New Jersey during their earlier days.
After breaking up, many members of the band went on to their own solo works.
The band’s front man, Summit native Gerard Way, produced one solo album and also created the comic book series “The Umbrella Academy,” which has since been turned into a series on Netflix.
Rumors of a My Chemical Romance reunion have been bubbling on the internet for several months. Joe Jonas, of the Jonas Brothers, another New Jersey-based musical group, ignited the rumors this summer when he told a radio station that the band was apparently rehearing next to his band at a studio in New York.
Tickets for the My Chemical Romance reunion will go on sale Nov. 1.
