Gov. Phil Murphy is urging companies based in states with strict abortion laws to relocate to New Jersey.
He sent letters to nearly 60 companies operating in multiple states with laws banning abortion anytime from when a fetal heartbeat is detected up to 22 weeks, including Texas, Florida and Georgia. Murphy did not release which companies he contacted in his letters.
He wrote in part, “The overturning of a woman's right to bodily autonomy — and the chilling effect this decision will have on your ability to attract and retain top female talent by being located in a state which has refused to recognize women's reproductive freedom — cannot be ignored.”
