A fourth “presumptive positive” case of coronavirus COVID-19 has been identified in New Jersey – the third such case in Bergen County, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Friday evening.

The governor says that the patient is a man in his 50s who is hospitalized at Englewood Hospital and has been hospitalized since March 5. Other details about the man were not released by officials.

There are at least two other “presumptive positive” cases in Bergen County – a 32-year-old man who is hospitalized at Hackensack University Medical Center, and a woman in her 30s who was treated at Englewood Hospital and is now self-quarantined at home. Camden County health officials say that they also have a presumptive case, who is a male patient in his 60s.

In all cases, the “presumptive positive” results came from samples tested by the New Jersey Department of Health at the New Jersey Public Health Environmental Laboratories in West Trenton. Samples have been sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for official testing.

Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco said Friday afternoon that it is believed that the first two patients had both previously visited the same commercial health care facility in Bergen County before seeking treatment at the hospital. That health care facility has not been named.

“As I speak here today the investigation of the exposure or the people that may have come in contact with those two people is continuing and is underway,” Tedesco said.

Officials were working to see if there is a link between the cases. But the health care facility remains open and is taking in patients.

Tedesco also said that an elderly Bergen County resident was also undergoing testing to see if they had the virus. That person exhibited pneumonia-like symptoms and is hospitalized at a Bergen County hospital.
