A Seattle man accused of killing a New Jersey college student and three other people in Seattle has been convicted on unrelated armed robbery charges.
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said that 30-year-old Ali Muhammad Brown was convicted Tuesday of robbery and weapons offenses after a two-week trial.
He stole a man's wallet in West Orange in July 2014, about two weeks after he allegedly killed Livingston native Brendan Tevlin at a traffic light also in West Orange. Brown is also accused of killing three other men in Seattle before traveling to New Jersey.
He allegedly told investigators that he killed the men in a fit of rage over the U.S. government's role in the Middle East.
Brown is charged with terrorism, murder and related offenses in the fatal shooting of Tevlin. He pleaded not guilty to those crimes in August.
