Murder charges have been dropped in Lakewood in the death of a 3‑month‑old girl.

Town officials say the child’s mother, Caitlin Gibson, will be released from jail.

The child’s father, 36‑year‑old Ruben Santiago, admitted to beating her. He faces up to 25 years behind bars.

Sentencing is scheduled for March.
