It's well known that the recession has rocked home sales, but the moving business is also suffering along with the lagging real estate market.
Jeff Harrington, who owns a moving company, says recent business is off 40 percent, and he doesn't believe his company will make money this year.
"The volume isn't there anymore," Harrington says. "We have five trucks sitting for a day, and that means there are crews that aren't working."
Even the houses that are selling are smaller than usual, meaning less money for Harrington's business. Other licensed movers in the area are even closing due to the downturn.
