Mosquitoes are back with a vengeance in Monmouth County and inspectors are trying their best to control the larvae population.
Inspectors from the Monmouth County Mosquito Commission conduct daily water tests in problem areas to check for mosquito larvae. The commission also tests water in areas where they receive complaints from residents.
?It?s easy to try and control the larvae population than to try and kill the adults,? inspector Chris Norton said.
Inspectors said they also trap mosquitoes and examine them in labs to determine the species. According to the commission, it needs to determine what species the mosquitoes are so it knows how to properly treat the area.
According to the commission, the current hot spots for mosquito breeding are Upper Freehold, Freehold Township, Howell and Manalapan.
