A Morristown middle school is facing backlash after a school concert flyer raised concerns about racial insensitivity.
"The image that ended up on the concert flyer is inconsistent with our most cherished values and our most enduring aspirations," said District Superintendent Joe Uglialoro in a statement.
The flyer at Frelinghuysen Middle School displays a chorus of diverse students singing, but many say the African-American child looks like a caricature of old-era stereotypes.
"They should be sensitive to these issues," said community member John Szbota regarding the administration's apparent lack of attention to the flyer's design.
The superintendent is set to hold a meeting Thursday to discuss the incident.
