As Thanksgiving dinners kicked off around our area, community nonprofits like Market Street Mission made sure everybody had a warm plate and a sense of community.

Market Street Mission's Morristown location held its annual Thanksgiving dinner, made possible with donated food and roughly 30 volunteers serving items restaurant style.

Turkey, stuffed flounder, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie and more were served until 5:30 p.m.

The event was divided into two parts: clients of their programs and their families had their Thanksgiving feast from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and then walk-ins were welcomed from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Keshawn Williams with the nonprofit talked about the collaborative effort to make it possible.

“That’s where I want to give a big shoutout to our kitchen staff, they worked hard to put that together," said Williams. "They’ve been prepping, I want to say, over the last three days, and then our head chef JR came in at 2 o’clock this morning."

Throughout the year, Market Street Missions’ multiple locations give out daily meals to those in need, provide men with emergency shelters, and addiction recovery for men.
