Drivers in Morris County have some of the most dangerous roads in the state when it comes to accidents involving deer.
County officials say there has been a recent spike in deer and vehicle collisions. They say they counted 581 deer carcasses on the county roads from October to December 2006. Some of the most dangerous roads, where deer are known to dart into traffic, include West Hanover Avenue in Morris Township and Parsippany, Route 510 in Mendham Township.
While many drivers say they know to look out for deer, county officials are still urging drivers to keep an eye out for the animals. Experts say drivers should be vigilant in March and April and from October to December. According to experts, those are the months when deer are more likely to be out on the roads.
