Montclair High School is closed once again, just days after the school year began, following a stairwell collapse last week.
Students have only been in school two days since the start of the new school year.
According to Superintendent Kendra Johnson, the purpose of the closing is to further analyze the structural soundness of each staircase at the school and to finalize the plan for a tentative, two-hour delayed reopening on Thursday.
The rationale for the two-hour delayed reopening for students only is to allow sufficient time for staff to prepare for instruction using a modified facilities utilization plan.
Sports teams will be allowed to practice using the Field House and associated fields only.
Engineering inspection crews will use today to go over the school one last time before students return for that delayed opening tomorrow.
