Moving closer to a plastic-free future, all by reusing and refilling containers from home is the goal of Dry Goods Refillery on Bellevue Avenue in Montclair.
The businesses started after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wanting to reduce waste and create a better environment for her children, Rachel Garcia came up with the idea.
She says that the concept is simple. Customers can bring in their own reusable containers from home and then refill them with over 250 different items. The goal is to eliminate plastic and waste one piece at a time.
"I wanted to shop in a way that was…cleaner and more impactful and figured out that this way of shopping existed in other parts of the world,” said Garcia. “We try to make this a convenient one-stop shop.”
Dry Goods Refillery is receiving a national award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as a 2024 Top 100 small business in the disrupter category.
