Daniel Craig, Brendan Fraser
and Eddie Redmayne are just some of the big stars in Montclair for the 11th
annual Montclair Film Festival that continues until Sunday. Evie Colbert, wife of comedian
Stephen Colbert, is one of the festival's co-founders and spoke to News 12
about both their roles.
Evie Colbert, who's lived in Montclair for 22 years
with her husband, Stephen, is one of the founding members of the non-profit
Montclair Film that brought the festival to life 12 years ago. Her husband just
happened to be one of the people who popped that question of how to help.
“When we first started we
were trying to figure out how to raise money to put on our first festival and
we had these other ideas and Stephen volunteered himself and said what if we
did an interview with me,” says Evie.
Stephen even dropped by in the interview!
“The Montclair
Film Festival is a wonderful idea, I look forward to it every year,” says
Stephen.
Stephen's interview with Craig is Friday night at the
New Jersey Performing
Arts Center in Newark, and
it's the first time his successful one on one sit downs is part of the festival
itself.
“I think the two of them
will have a ton of fun,” says Evie. “He's been on Stephen’s show a lot of
times, so they know each other, they do. They arm wrestle almost every time. Stephen always
loses. So, I think it will be a great night and I encourage people to buy
tickets. It's a fundraiser so tickets are slightly more expensive than our
regular screenings, but we really haven't had a fundraiser in three years, so
we need the support.”
