Monmouth University shelter-in-place lifted after possible armed subject

Monmouth University has issued a shelter-in-place for all students and faculty due to a possible armed subject on campus.

Update 4:40 a.m.: A shelter-in-place for all students and faculty has been lifted at Monmouth University after a possible armed subject on campus.
University officials say that the reports came in around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. They say Monmouth University police received reports of an armed person on the university’s main campus in West Long Branch.
“Monmouth University Police are being assisted by multiple local and county law enforcement agencies who are searching and securing the campus,” a message on the school’s website stated.
Students were told they should not leave campus. Anyone who was already off campus was asked not to return.
There were no reports of any injuries at this time.
