Monmouth Ocean Hospital Service Corporation (MONOC), one of the largest paramedic services in the state, is starting to shrink.
MONOC President Vincent Robbins says he is being forced to reduce the amount of emergency services in the state to avoid running in the red. MONOC is closing its paramedic centers in Marlboro, Lacey and Belleville, as well as the summer center in Seaside Heights. Many are now concerned emergency response times will increase.
The Department of Health and Senior Services gave MONOC the green light to close the centers. The department also assures the public that paramedic services will not be compromised.
