With hurricane season officially underway, Monmouth County Emergency Management officials are getting ready by hosting a disaster preparedness seminar.
The "Leading Through Crisis" seminar established by Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden is geared toward mayors, police chiefs and emergency management coordinators.
"This is the first one in New Jersey, and it's to give some information that's vital in terms of communication and collaboration, particularly with our elected officials and those in the emergency management offices," says Golden.
Although experts project this year's hurricane season to be less active than normal, officials are still making sure they are prepared for the worst.
This is the first year of the two-day seminar, which is a pro-active approach to storm preparedness and awareness.
