Schools in New Jersey are expected to be closed for weeks while the world deals with the coronavirus pandemic. But a Monmouth County mother is trying to make sure that kids stay healthy and active, while still following social distancing guidelines.
“Having a routine in place lets them know, yes, you’re going to work on your schoolwork for an hour or so, but then this is what is waiting for you when you’re done. We’re going to have fun as a family. We’re going to meet up with your friends online and
do an online workout,” says Devon Acquaviva of Freehold.

Acquaviva is a mother of three and a fitness coach for adults. She is now helping kids as well.
“It’s a different workout every day. Today was kickboxing,” says daughter Abby Acquaviva.
People who would like to participate can set up their computer and find the workouts online.
“[Kids] are more inspired when they can see their friends and there’s that accountability aspect that I have found is so important…it’s really made a big difference,” Acquaviva says.
The kids say that it is a great way for them to spend time with their friends, even though they have to stay apart for the time being.
