Parents in Monmouth County are working hard to keep their kids’
Catholic school open after receiving word Mother Seton Academy in Howell will
close at the completion of the school year.
Parents apparently received word on Jan. 7 that the school would
be closing at the end of the school year.
Like many others, the coronavirus pandemic caused many hardships,
as St. Veronica’s and St. Aloysius Church were closed for months, which
hit the church and school financially.
But one parent says they are focused on raising whatever amount it
takes to keep this school open, and they are off to a solid start.
“We have raised $77,000 in 10 days,” says Kristanne Leggio. “So,
we are serious, we are fierce and we are determined.”
Leggio says if they can’t keep the
school open, the money donated will be returned to those who give.
Mother Seton Academy is a pre-K through 8th grade
school which was created only a few years ago, in 2019, when churches St.
Veronica’s and St. Aloysius combined to make one school.
