A missing man from Roxbury was found dead in Sunset Lake, Morris County prosecutors confirmed on Monday.
According to officials, Altariq Hickson was last seen at his home on March 6. He was reported missing on March 12.
Prosecutors say during a missing persons investigation, Hickson’s personal items were discovered on Mine Hill Beach. A search of the area was conducted.
Officials say a subsequent search of Sunset Lake by the New Jersey State Police led to the recovery of a body on March 19, believed to be the missing man. The body was later confirmed to be Hickson.
The Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be drowning and the manner of death to be accidental.
The investigation continues, but officials say Hickson's death doesn't appear suspicious.
