Fire crews worked for hours Saturday night to put out a three-alarm fire that destroyed a home in Millstone. But without a municipal water supply in town, the Millstone Fire Department has found different ways to source their water while fighting fires.

Lt. Mike Maloney from the Millstone Fire Department says the fire was under control early Sunday morning.

Firefighters battled the blaze at the single family home on Fitzpatrick Run for 6 1/2 hours.

Millstone has about 15 drafting points set up at different lakes throughout town and rely on hydrants in other communities, as well as having a predetermined mutual aid plan based on the town being broken down into different sections.

According to Maloney, they used two main sources of water to fight this fire. They were doing tanker refill from a lake next to a main road in town and filling tankers from a fire hydrant in Manalapan. He says it's different than relying on hydrants in town, but they know how to make it work.

No one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
