Middletown crews repair water main break near Route 35, mayor says
Water service has been restored, and officials expect the road to reopen in time for the afternoon commute.

Utility crews worked through heavy rain overnight to repair a water main break near Navesink River Road and Route 35 North in Middletown.
Mayor Tony Perry shared photos of the repair work on social media. The water main broke on the westbound side of Navesink River Road on Sunday afternoon, prompting utility crews to begin digging into the pavement.
According to the mayor, the broken pipe has been repaired and water service has been restored to affected homes. Crews with New Jersey American Water are continuing work to fill the excavation before the road can be repaved and reopened.
“There is some dirt being laid down, which is always a good sign, so water has been restored to all the houses that were impacted. The sewer authority has made all their repairs, so New Jersey American Water is fixing up right now and laying the final pieces to this puzzle,” Perry said.
The mayor said he expects Navesink River Road to reopen in time for the afternoon commute.
Middletown is also continuing to recover from Friday’s storm. Perry said about 200 homeowners remain without power after storm-related outages.
