A middle school teacher in Bloomfield is facing serious charges after allegations of sexual assault involving a former student.
Prosecutors say 37-year-old Daniel Burbank, of Monroe, was arrested last week.
Authorities say Burbank, who worked as a teacher and band director, allegedly began engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct with the victim when the student was 13 years old.
Investigators say the alleged conduct continued even after the student moved on to high school.
Officials have not released additional details about the timeline or circumstances of the alleged incidents.
The case remains under investigation in Essex County.
