Some in Metuchen are concerned heavy traffic outside the post office and a lack of adequate parking spell out danger for patrons.

The Brainy Borough Post Office is located on the very busy Central Avenue.

Post office supervisor James Rogers says the parking spaces next to the building were eliminated because there is not enough room to handle the traffic. Instead, parking was established across Central Avenue.

Residents say many try to cross the busy street without using the crosswalk or park up on the sidewalk near the post office and then back up into oncoming traffic.

The post office does not own the land it sits on and Rodgers says the owner has not taken his suggestion to install a rear exit there.

A toddler was killed just yards from the post office while crossing Central Avenue.
