A Morris County man is like a real-life Forrest Gump.
Mark Washburne, 52, marked his 7,000th consecutive day running by trotting 20 miles Saturday.
Washburne, a member of Rose City Runners, began his streak back in 1989.
"I had gone on a business trip back in 1989 and I noticed I had made 3 weeks in a row," Washburne says. "I thought I would try to see if I had gone further than that."
Washburne says he doesn't plan to end his Cal Ripken-type streak anytime soon. He usually only runs three miles a day, but he may take it down to one mile eventually.
"Once you get started at one of these things it's hard to stop," he says.
