A proposal that was introduced to create an area for sex shops across from the Meadowlands has residents and business owners talking.

Some say they wouldn?t mind having the businesses in the area unless they have an effect on schools and other businesses. However, many say an X-rated area will negatively affect the community.

Many say the shops would be too close to homes, businesses and schools. If approved, the proposed adult-playground would be built a few miles from a high school, which some say will bring dangerous elements like drugs into the school.

The borough hopes to create a special district to prevent adult businesses from opening in the downtown area. The process could take several months.
