? Political heavy-hitters descended on New Jersey Monday to rally support ahead of Super Tuesday.
This year marks the first year New Jersey is holding its primary on Super Tuesday and not in June. In order to drum up support, Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill) attended a rally at the Izod Center in East Rutherford.
The latest polls show Obama closing in on Sen. Hillary Clinton?s (D-N.Y.) lead. Actor Robert De Niro, Caroline Kennedy and Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) opened the rally and highlighted Obama?s vote against the Iraq war.
Meanwhile, in Hamilton, 500 people packed into a firehouse to hear Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) speak. A Quinnipiac poll of likely New Jersey voters released Monday shows McCain with a double-digit lead over Mitt Romney in Tuesday?s Republican primary.
Chelsea Clinton and one of Mitt Romney?s sons also made stops in New Jersey.
