A Mays Landing man has pleaded guilty to making terroristic threats after prosecutors said he threatened to kill family members during a phone call from the Salem County Jail.
Douglas Shuster, 41, pleaded guilty July 28 in Superior Court to one count of terroristic threats, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Under the plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend a sentence of three years in New Jersey State Prison.
The charge stems from a Jan. 7, 2026, report made to the Mullica Township Police Department. According to prosecutors, a man told police that his wife's mother had received threatening statements from her son, Shuster, during a phone call placed through the Salem County Jail phone system.
Prosecutors said audio of the call confirmed Shuster threatened to beat and kill his mother, sister and brother-in-law, and said he would destroy their lives by ensuring they had no home, vehicle or place to sleep.
Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 8.
