Jersey Mike's Subs made its debut Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange, marking a new chapter for the New Jersey-founded sandwich chain.

The company began trading under the ticker symbol "JMKE."

The stock market debut comes about 18 months after investment firm Blackstone acquired a majority stake in the company.

Former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and actor Danny DeVito were on hand to celebrate the company's first day of trading.

Jersey Mike's said it plans to expand to 15,000 restaurants worldwide.

Founded in 1956 as Mike's Subs in Point Pleasant, Jersey Mike's has grown from a single neighborhood sandwich shop into a fast-casual restaurant franchisor with more than 3,300 locations across the United States and Canada.
