A Hamilton man has been sentenced to 46 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a child over a 10-year period, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday.
Jose Membreno-Aguilar, 51, was sentenced July 28 in Mercer County Superior Court. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law and will be subject to parole supervision for life.
A Mercer County jury convicted Membreno-Aguilar on March 10 of all charges against him, including 10 counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
During the two-week trial, the victim testified about a continuing course of sexual abuse by the defendant. Prosecutors said they are not releasing additional details out of respect for the victim's privacy.
Under New Jersey's No Early Release Act, Membreno-Aguilar must serve 85% of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
