Mayor Bill de Blasio hosted the first immigration summit Monday with more than 20 mayors from all over the country.

The mayors, who are all Democrats, met at Gracie Mansion to join efforts on the implementation of President Barack Obama's executive action on immigration and strategize on how cities can effectively push for comprehensive immigration reform.

The meeting comes days after House Republicans took a largely symbolic vote to condemn the president's executive orders.

The mayors signed on to Mayor de Blasio's five-point challenge, a plan that includes creating a way to share strategies, safeguard immigrants from fraudulent services and reaching eligible applicants through community outreach and public education.

All the mayors agreed they will all reach out to other mayors from both sides of the aisle to get them on board. They say this is something that needs to be done right and they will use local resources to get it done.
