Mayor Bill de Blasio announced new perks included in the city's municipal ID card program that would give undocumented city residents identification.
Mayor de Blasio signed a bill in July making the cards a reality.
Since then, all 33 city cultural institutions, including the Bronx Zoo and the Museum of Natural History, have partnered with the program to grant cardholders special deals at locations across the five boroughs.
The mayor says those that sign up for an ID card will get a free membership to cultural institutions for one year. He says the plan is part of making all city residents feel accepted and included, regardless of their status.
De Blasio says the city ID cards will be available by Jan. 1.
