A fire at a Woodbridge playground is being investigated by authorities as a possible arson.
The fire happened at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Matthew Jago School's playground. The magnet school for kids with special needs has one of the only handicap-accessible playgrounds in the district.
There is a camp being held at the school currently, but no children were hurt in the fire.
Residents say they saw smoke and fast-moving flames coming from the playground. Police say the rubberized safety material on the equipment helped the fire burn.
Police say they are working with the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office on the investigation. The mayor of Woodbridge says arson is suspected.
Anyone with information is asked to call Woodbridge police at 732-634-7700.
