Today is May Day, also known as International Workers' Day, and this year, essential workers nationwide are set to strike to demand safer conditions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to organizers, employees at Amazon, Target, Whole Foods and FedEx are expected to walk off the job or call out sick to demand unpaid time off work, hazard pay, sick leave, protective gear and cleaning supplies.
Other groups are also planning rallies, protesting stay-at-home-orders, and will take to the streets in cities nationwide to demand states loosen shelter-in-place rules and reopen.
