Tuesday was the deadline in New Jersey to register to vote for the June primaries.
It was also a municipal election day in many New Jersey towns, including Montclair. Polls closed at 8 p.m. There are several important races with 15 total candidates, including two candidates for mayor: Renee Baskerville and Christina Thomas.
New Jersey residents can register online to vote, according to NJ.gov.
Voting registration requirements include:
  • Provide a digital signature.
  • Provide date of birth.
  • Current and valid driver’s license or a non-driver identification card issued by New Jersey.
  • Motor Vehicle Commission or a social security number.
  • A United States citizen.
  • At least 17 years old (though you may not vote until you have reached the age of 18).
  • A resident of the county for 30 days before the election.
  • Not serving a sentence of incarceration as the result of a conviction.
