A New Jersey nursing home has been named one of the worst in the country by the federal government.
Matawan's Victoria Health Care Center was the only New Jersey nursing home featured on a list of poor facilities compiled by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Officials gathered information for the study by observing nursing homes every six months, rather than the typical annual inspection.
According to Medicare's Web site, observation of Victoria Health Care Center's performance, practices and conditions showed eight deficiencies. Three fire safety violations were also shown in the report.
