A massive fire in Morris County displaced more than 100 people and caused at least one building to collapse Monday afternoon.

Dover officials say that the fire started around 3:30 p.m. inside the basement of Barry’s Luncheonette on North Warren Street. The fire soon spread to the adjacent building.

One of the buildings collapsed and was destroyed, while the other had a partial collapse.

Dover Mayor James Dodd said that six businesses were destroyed and over 100 people will be displaced from their apartments on the upper floors of the buildings. But the mayor says that there were no reports of any injuries. The American Red Cross responded to assist the displaced residents.

Dodd said that at least 16 different fire departments were on the scene to help put out the fire. Tanker trucks were brought in with water because of low water pressure coming from hydrants due to the amount of firefighters on the scene.

The mayor also said that heavy equipment was brought in to remove some debris so that firefighters were able to monitor hotspots in the basements of the building.

It was not immediately known how the fire started.
